Question 1

What types of vehicles do you inspect?

Accepted Answer

We inspect all kinds of vehicles including cars (classic and modern), trucks, SUVs, RVs and motorhomes, motorcycles, ATVs/UTVs, boats, semi trucks and trailers, heavy equipment, and more. If it has wheels or an engine, we can evaluate it.

Question 2

How long does a vehicle inspection take?

Accepted Answer

Most inspections take between 1–3 hours depending on the vehicle type and complexity. After the on-site inspection we compile a detailed digital report with photos and recommendations, which you'll typically receive within 24 hours.

Question 3

Do you provide appraisals for insurance or the DMV?

Accepted Answer

We provide thorough valuation documentation — condition assessment, market value analysis, and photo documentation for claims or transactions — backed by 35 years of automotive experience across many disciplines and 15+ years of professional inspection work. If your insurer or lender requires a specifically credentialed appraiser, contact us first and we'll give you a straight answer.

Question 4

Where in Oregon do you travel?

Accepted Answer

We serve customers statewide across Oregon, including Eugene, Springfield, Corvallis, Salem, Bend, Medford, Cottage Grove, Portland, Beaverton, Aloha, Hillsboro, Gresham, Oregon City, and everywhere in between. Travel fees may apply for more remote locations, contact us for a quote before booking.

Question 5

How much does a pre-purchase car inspection cost?

Accepted Answer

Our pre-purchase / pre-trip inspection starts at $199.99. Other services range from $45 for a TNC (Uber/Lyft) inspection up to $299.99 for a heavy-duty truck inspection. Travel fees may apply for locations outside the Eugene metro area.

Question 6

Do you come to the vehicle, or do I need to bring it somewhere?

Accepted Answer

We are fully mobile, we come to wherever the vehicle is located. That could be a dealership lot, a private seller's driveway, a storage facility, or anywhere else in Oregon. You never need to transport the vehicle to us.

Question 7

What does the inspection report include?

Accepted Answer

Your report includes a detailed checklist covering the exterior, underbody, engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, interior, tires, and fluids. It also includes photos taken during the inspection and an OBD-II diagnostic scan for any stored trouble codes.

Question 8

Can I be present during the inspection?

Accepted Answer

You're welcome to be there, but you don't need to be — most customers aren't. Everything is documented with 100+ photos and video, and the written report covers all of it. Josh is happy to walk through the findings with you by phone afterward. Don't put off booking just to be there — take the earliest slot that works.

Question 9

Should the seller know I'm getting an inspection?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you'll typically need the seller's cooperation to access the vehicle. Most legitimate private sellers and dealerships expect and welcome pre-purchase inspections. If a seller refuses to allow an inspection, that's a significant red flag.

Question 10

What if the inspection finds serious problems?

Accepted Answer

Our job is to give you an unbiased, complete picture of the vehicle's condition, not to tell you whether to buy it. If we find serious issues, we'll document them clearly in the report so you can negotiate a lower price, ask the seller to make repairs, or walk away with confidence.

Question 11

Do you inspect vehicles at dealerships?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We regularly inspect vehicles at both franchise and independent dealerships across Oregon. Most dealers are accustomed to third-party inspections and will accommodate the appointment without issue.

Question 12

How do I schedule an inspection?

Accepted Answer

You can book directly through the online booking form on this website, or call/text us at 541-357-8066. We'll confirm your appointment, get the vehicle details, and let you know if a travel fee applies.

Question 13

How far in advance do I need to book?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking as soon as you've identified a vehicle you're serious about, ideally 24–48 hours in advance. Same-day appointments may be available depending on location and schedule. Don't let a seller pressure you into buying before you've had time to arrange an inspection.

Question 14

Do you offer discounts for multiple inspections?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you're shopping and need inspections on more than one vehicle at the same time, contact us to discuss a multi-inspection discount.

Question 15

What is a TNC inspection and do I need one?

Accepted Answer

A TNC (Transportation Network Company) inspection is a mandatory safety check required by Oregon for drivers who want to work for rideshare platforms like Uber and Lyft. It covers 19 specific safety points. If you're signing up to drive in Oregon, you'll need this inspection before your vehicle is approved. Our TNC inspection starts at $45.

Question 16

Can you inspect a vehicle remotely or via video?

Accepted Answer

No, all inspections are conducted in person. A physical inspection is the only way to properly evaluate mechanical condition, check for hidden damage, and perform a diagnostic scan. Remote or video-based inspections can miss critical issues.

Question 17

What is a stand-alone vehicle appraisal and when do I need one?

Accepted Answer

A stand-alone appraisal is a valuation report that documents a vehicle's condition and market value. You may need one for insurance purposes (agreed-value policies for classic cars), estate settlements, financing, legal disputes, or resale documentation. It's different from an inspection, the focus is on value, not just mechanical condition.

Question 18

Are your inspection reports accepted by insurance companies?

Accepted Answer

Our reports are detailed, photo-documented, and built on 35 years of hands-on experience, and many clients have used them successfully with insurers and lenders. Acceptance depends on each company's requirements, so if yours needs something specific, contact us first and we'll tell you plainly whether we can meet it.
